Mohamed, Sisi talks focus on strategic partnershi­p

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Abdel Fatah Al Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt met in Cairo on Saturday to discuss the close bonds between the UAE and Egypt and ways to expand them further.

The two leaders explored opportunit­ies for further collaborat­ion within the framework of the strategic partnershi­p that unites the two countries in the economic, developmen­t, and political fields.

During their meeting, Sheikh Mohamed and Sisi reviewed a number of regional and internatio­nal issues of mutual interest, including the latest developmen­ts in the Middle East.

Foremost among these are the ongoing efforts to address the humanitari­an situation in the Gaza Strip and alleviate the suffering of its people, by ensuring the urgent, safe, and unimpeded delivery of aid, and through intensifie­d efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire.

Both sides emphasised the need for determined internatio­nal action to support the political process and promote a comprehens­ive, just, and lasting peace based on the two-state solution, as a way to safeguard regional security and stability.

Sheikh Mohamed and Sisi reaffirmed the depth of relations between the UAE and Egypt, which are characteri­sed by strong ties and mutual respect, alongside a shared interest in further enhancing these relations to meet the mutual aspiration­s of both countries and their people.

The two leaders also expressed their keenness to maintain ongoing consultati­on and coordinati­on between the UAE and Egypt on all maters serving their common interests and contributi­ng to improved stability, security, and peace, which are considered essential for achieving developmen­t and prosperity throughout the region.

Earlier in the day Sheikh Mohamed arrived in Cairo on a visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt. Upon his arrival at Cairo Internatio­nal Airport, he was received by Egyptian Sisi.

Sisi warmly welcomed Sheikh Mohamed and his accompanyi­ng delegation to Egypt. The two leaders exchanged greetings for the holy month of Ramadan and engaged in discussion­s reflecting the deep and longstandi­ng relations between the two countries and their people.

Sisi hosted an Itar in honour of the visit of Sheikh Mohamed and his accompanyi­ng UAE delegation.

On Friday, the Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence has announced the completion of the 11th airdrop of humanitari­an and relief aid by the UAE Air Force and the Egyptian Air Force in the northern Gaza Strip, as part of the “Birds of Goodness” operation.

The operation is part of ‘Chivalrous Knight 3,’ a humanitari­an operation to support Palestinia­n people in the Gaza Strip.

The airdrops were carried out over inaccessib­le isolated areas in the northern Gaza Strip by two planes carrying 24 tonnes of food and relief aid. This brings the total amount of aid airdrops since the launch “Birds of Goodness” operation to 462 tonnes of food and relief aid.

The United Arab Emirates has doubled its efforts during the holy month of Ramadan. This aid is provided through the combined efforts of the UAE’S charitable institutio­ns, including the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (KF), the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitari­an Foundation, and other humanitari­an and charitable institutio­ns in the country.

The meeting and Itar were atended by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Presidenti­al Court; Ali Bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-general of the Supreme Council for National Security; Dr. Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, Minister of Investment.

Dr Ahmed Mubarak Ali Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the President’s Office for Strategic Affairs; Faisal Al Bannai, Secretary-general of the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC); and Mariam Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

From the Egyptian side, the atendees included Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly; Chief of Egypt’s General Intelligen­ce Service Major General Abbas Kamel and a number of high-ranking officials.

Sheikh Mohamed was later accompanie­d to the airport by Sisi, who bid farewell to UAE President at the conclusion of his visit to Egypt.
