ICP explains process of new entry visa for residents

ABU DHABI: Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenshi­p, Customs & Port Security (ICP) affirmed that a fine of Dhs100 will be charged for every 30 days or less spent outside the country when applying for the new entry visa for residents who have been outside the UAE for more than 6 months.

ICP clarified that there are 4 steps which must be followed to obtain this permit, First: submiting the applicatio­n from outside the UAE, and this can be done ater 180 days of staying outside, and upon approval of the applicatio­n, the entry must be done within 30 days, including the date of approval of the applicatio­n, with submission the reason for being outside the country for this period.

The new service also includes all residencie­s approved within the system of services provided by the ICP, and allows activating the residency again and entering the country with the same residency ater the approval of the ICP.

The ICP pointed out that residents can apply for a permit applicatio­n through the authority’s smart services system, or the smart phone applicatio­n “UAEICP”, with a fee of Dhs150, or through customer happiness centres, or typing offices approved by the ICP.

It is worth mentioning that last week, the ICP activated the service of entry permits related to residents who have been outside the country for more than 6 months, with the aim of delighting customers and enabling residents who have valid residencie­s, and were forced to stay outside the country for study, work or treatment for a period of more than 6 months.

Approval of the applicatio­n requires submiting a copy of the Emirates ID, a copy of the passport, and ataching the reason for the delay outside the country during that period.

Moreover, the number of golden visas issued in all categories increased to 79,617 in 2022, up from 47,150 in 2021al Directorat­e of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA) said.

The year ended on a high-note, completing millions of transactio­ns and providing customers with high-quality smart services.

The GDRFA also received a number of local and global awards, boosting Dubai’s reputation as one of the best destinatio­ns to visit and live in. In 2022, the directorat­e processed over 62.24 million transactio­ns, including 46,965,715 entry and exit transactio­ns through air, land and sea ports, up from 37,384,028 transactio­ns the previous year. This included 9,852,218 visa transactio­ns and 4,499,712 residency transactio­ns, 40,642 electronic passport transactio­ns, and 37,267 legal consultati­ons, among others.
