Woman ordered to pay brother Dhs330,000
ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Family and Civil and Administrative Cases Court ordered a woman to pay her brother dhs 330,000 of which dhs 328,000 was the value of financing a car he paid to her, and Dhs2,000incompensationfordamagesheincurred.
The complainant filed a case in which he demanded that his sister be obligated to pay him Dhs328,000, the instalments paid to a car and the remaining instalments until the end of its financing.
He also demanded that the appellee be obligated to pay Dhs20,000 in material and moral compensation and 12 per cent in legal interest, the transfer of the vehicle’s ownership to him and obligate the appellee to pay the fees and expenses of the lawsuit and the lawyer’s fees.
The complainant indicated that his sister asked him to finance a vehicle with a bank and she would pay the monthly instalments.
He allegedly contracted with the bank to buy a 2021 model vehicle and paid Dhs200,000 in advance.
He added that he agreed to pay Dhs128,000 per month, to be paid by his sister and then register the vehicle in her name, but his sister did not comply with the agreement and did not pay the monthly instalments.
The court noted that according to the case papers, the complainant contracted with the bank to purchase the vehicle and commited to pay the entire monthly instalments, adding that he paid Dhs200,000 in advance and then agreed to pay Dhs128,000 monthly, to be paid by his sister, ater which she would register the vehicle in her name, but the sister did not pay the full amount of the monthlyinstalmentsinadditiontothedhs200,000 paid by her brother.
The court therefore obligated the sister to pay her brother Dhs328,000 2,000 in compensation and the fees and expenses of the lawsuit and the lawyers’ fees.
Separately, the Dubai Criminal Court sent two Arabs behind bars for three months, fined them jointly Dhs70,000, to be followed by deportation for stealing a refrigerator trailer that was parked in a sandy area in Al Khawaneej, Dubai.
