FNC Speaker, Uruguay’s VP discuss ties
MONTEVIDEO: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council (FNC), held discussions with Beatriz Argimon, Vice President and Speaker of Senate of Eastern Uruguay, during his official visit to the South American country.
During the talks, they discussed activating parliamentary relations, exchanging experiences and visits, enhancing coordination and consultation on various issues during participation in international parliamentary events and supporting the directions of the two governments and their keenness to activate cooperation in all fields and benefit from the distinguished relations that the two countries enjoy with various countries of the world and institutions and international organisations in working to achieve peace, security and stability in the world.
The two sides also tackled regional and international issues and discussed the latest developments and current developments in the regional and international arenas and stressed the importance of continuous consultation on international issues of common concern to the two countries.
The two sides stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and its activation in the two parliamentary institutions through coordination and consultation on various issues, communication, exchange of experiences and visits, in a way that contributes to framing and developing existing relations in various fields. Beatriz Argimon affirmed the interest of Uruguay in strengthening parliamentary relations and activating them in various fields to contribute to strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two countries and developing them to achieve the interests and aspirations of the two friendly countries and people. The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1980.
Meanwhile, Saqr Ghobash and Pablo Lanz, Chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Senate of Eastern Uruguay, discussed enhancingparliamentaryrelationsandstressedthe importance of joint cooperation and coordination regarding international issues of common interest.
Saqr Ghobash’s 10-day tour includes Brazil,
Uruguay, Paraguay, and Colombia and aims to promote strategic partnerships and keep pace with the growing relations between the UAE and these countries.
Ghobash praised the development of the special strategic partnership relations between the UAE and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, and the keenness to elevate them to achieve the aspirations and ambitions of the leadership and peoples of the two countries based on friendship, mutual respect and common interests since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1980.
