Sharjah expands nurseries to include its kindergartens
SHARJAH: His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, directed to expand the work of government nurseries to include the kindergartens stage in order to qualify students directly for the first grade.
The Ruler of Sharjah also directed the expansion of “Khalifa Al Hamza” School in Al Madam, to include all educational levels, starting next academic year, while giving citizens region a 20% discount, said Dr Saeed Musabah Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Education Council, during an intervention via “Direct line” programme, on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
The “Direct line” programme also announced that the Ruler of Sharjah directed the restoration of Al “Qawasim Fort” in Dibba Al-hisn and return it to its former state, following the recent discovery of 3 foundations of ancient castles in the city.
On Sunday, Sheikh Sultan approved the names of students admited to the branch of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport Sharjah (AASTMT), for the first semester of 2022-2023.
This was announced through the “Direct Line” programme on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, saying that the Ruler of Sharjah, has approved 31 scholarships for Emirati students, in addition to 2 scholarships for two students of residents working in Sharjah government bodies.
Last month Sheikh Sultan, inspected today the conference centre building and the marine simulators complex building at the AASTMT in Emirate of Sharjah.
During the inspection, the Ruler of Sharjah was briefed on the plans for the facilities and contents of the building, which includes a theatre, clinic and a multi-use hall, in addition to providing locations for shops, library, and various services.
Sheikh Sultan was briefed on the theater in the conference centre, which includes 900 chairs, distributed in a gradual manner to provide smooth movement, in addition to the diversity of modern means and technologies used in it.
He visited a number of advanced scientific laboratories in Academy for the purposes of teaching and training students in different classrooms, as well as for the purposes of training specialists working in the fields of maritime transport.
A couple of days ago Sheikh Sultan has announced the launch of a new study programme at the University of Sharjah (UOS) named “Catch-up Programmes,”whichprovidescommunitycollege’s graduates with a GPA of 2.0 an opportunity to improve their GPA to 2.5 and join the University’s bridging programme.
In a live telephone call during the ‘Direct Line’ programme broadcast on Sharjah Radio and Television, a programme hosted by Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director-general of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Sheikh Sultan said that, since the bridging programme at the University of Sharjah for Community College’s graduates only accepts graduates with a GPA of 2.5 out of 4, the University will launch a new programme dubbed as the ‘Catch-up Programmes’ for graduates who have a GPA of 2.0, giving them the opportunity to raise their GPA to 2.5 by taking catch-up courses and be able to join the bridging programme.
Earlier Sheikh Sultan had received at Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre, Dr Saeed Musabah Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of Sharjah Education Council (SEC), and members of the council ater its new formation.
Sheikh Sultan welcomed the members of the Board of Trustees and spoke about the quality of education in the Emirate of Sharjah and its importance in developing the educational and cultural prowess of children.
The meeting also dealt with many scientific topics and specialisations of the Sharjah Education Council, which contribute to raising the educational level through many educational plans, initiatives and programmes, and enhancing the participation of all parties to the educational system, in addition to the distinguished level of government nurseries based on the directives and follow-up of the Ruler of Sharjah.
On Tuesday Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired the SEC meeting which discussed a number of governmental issues on its agenda and reviewed the progress of work in many sectors and development projects in various cities and regions of the Emirate.
The council discussed a drat law on the organisation of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock Resources, and ater the members of the council expressed their observations on the provisions and articles of the drat law, the council directed to complete the legislative session of the law.
The council discussed a report on the needs of residential areas in Sharjah for educational facilities, in order to keep pace with the large population growth and the distribution of families in many new areas such as Al Rahmaniyah and Al Suyoh suburbs.
The council directed, in coordination with the concerned federal and local authorities, to develop solutions to provide educational facilities in the regions of the emirate, in line with future plans and population studies.
