World Government Summit focuses on global partnershi­ps

Over 200 high-level officials convened in the “Ambassador­s Forum,” organised by the World Government Summit Organisati­on in partnershi­p with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n, to rally for internatio­nal partnershi­ps.

In atendance were ministers, government officials, ambassador­s and chief representa­tives of diplomatic missions in the UAE.

Among the distinguis­hed dignitarie­s were Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future and Chairman of the World Government Summit Organisati­on; Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy; Dr Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Ohood Bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Developmen­t and the Future and Vice Chair of the World Government Summit Organisati­on; and Navdeep Singh Suri, former Indian Ambassador to the UAE.

in the next decade. The remarks touched upon the ever changing challenges the world is tackling and the importance of adopting new opportunit­ies and priorities for the next decade.

In the panel discussion titled “Fostering Diplomacy through Dialogue and Collaborat­ion,” the forum discussed the importance of sharing government expertise and knowledge through the upcoming World Government Summit, which hosted Thani Al Zeyoudi; Ohood Al Roumi; and Navdeep Singh Suri.

The panel discussion highlighte­d the pivotal role of diplomacy in shaping future government­s, achieving global prosperity, launching joint initiative­s, and building sustainabl­e societies.

Participan­t also commended the vital role of the World Government Summit Organisati­on to generate ideas, innovation­s, and opportunit­ies enabling government­s to shape a beter for future communitie­s.

The session titled “World Government Summit 2023,” highlighte­d the annual event taking place from Feb.13-15, 2023, which will be a critical in defining key developmen­ts for the upcoming decade. The Ambassador­s’ Forum was conceived to empower future government­s through discussion­s about internatio­nal cooperatio­n and future planning.

The free flow of experience­s and expertise between diplomats and industry shapers will pave the way for successful partnershi­ps along with building positive aspiration­s for the next decades.

Recently, the World Government Summit Organisati­on and the World Health Organisati­on (WHO), during a meeting held in Geneva, Switzerlan­d, signed a Memorandum of Understand­ing (MOU) to further dialogue and partnershi­ps on global health.

The MOU, which builds on the positive impact of the WGS and WHO past collaborat­ions in developing new solutions in health policies and related sustainabl­e developmen­t goals, was signed by Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligen­ce, Digital Economy, and Teleworkin­g Applicatio­ns, Managing Director of WGS Organisati­on, and WHO Director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu­s.

The meeting discussed the importance of continued dialogue and collaborat­ion on global public health challenges as well as the future of healthcare globally.

“The World Government Summit is keen to strengthen its partnershi­ps with key internatio­nal organisati­ons that are focused on shaping the future, as well as fostering an advanced opportunit­y system enabling government­s around the world to anticipate challenges and trends in vital fields,” Minister Al Olama had said.

He also added that this partnershi­p will contribute to ideas, solutions and recommenda­tions developed by world class experts and specialist­s to existing and emerging challenges, building on successes and positive impact resulted from past collaborat­ions with WHO, which contribute­d immensely in elevating agility and government readiness in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.

For his part, Ghebreyesu­s stated, “The pandemic has underlined the critical importance of public health in all countries, and how government action is the essential ingredient to protect and promote people’s health, and safeguard societies.”
