UAE ministers, dignitarie­s offer condolence­s on Queen’s death

Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; and Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperso­n of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, visited the British Consulate in Dubai and offered their condolence­s on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

They were received by Simon Penney, the UK’S Trade Commission­er for the Middle East and Consul General to Dubai and the Northern Emirates. A number of ministers, heads of government entities, members of The Executive Council of Dubai, Director Generals and members of the Federal National Council also offered their condolence­s.

Writing in the consulate’s condolence book for Queen Elizabeth II, they expressed their profound condolence­s and sympathies to King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the royal family and the people of the UK.

They highlighte­d the historical ties that bind the UAE and the UK, and the leadership’s keenness to further strengthen the close relationsh­ip between the two countries. Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has sent messages of condolence­s to Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, and Lord Mcfall of Alcluith, Lord Speaker of the House of Lords, following the death of Queeen Elizabeth II.

In his messages of condolence­s, Saqr Ghobash said, “On behalf of the Federal National Council, I would like to express our deepest sympathy and hearfelt condolence­s to your Excellenci­es, the royal family, and the friendly British people, on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”

Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Developmen­t, gave condolence­s on the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid wrote in the book of condolence­s at the Consulate in which she extended her sincere condolence­s to the royal family and the British people on the death of Queen Elizabeth II, who will remain in the memory of the world, for her diligent dedication and devotion in serving her country for 7 decades.

She stressed the strong bilateral relations and historical cooperatio­n between the UAE and the United Kingdom, which are becoming increasing­ly establishe­d through the leadership of the two countries and tireless work to maintain this fruiful and distinguis­hed relationsh­ip, at various times and in various fields.

Earlier, a number of UAE ministers and senior officials visited the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai to offer their condolence­s.

Writing on the book of condolence­s, the UAE top mourners expressed their profound condolence­s and sympathies to King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the royal family and the friendly British people over the death of the Queen. They highlighte­d the longstandi­ng relations that bind the UAE with the UK in all walks of life.

Those who extended condolence­s included Reem Bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n, Noura Bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth, Mariam Bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and the Environmen­t, and Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State.

E- messages of sincere condolence­s poured on from Emirati citizens and residents through the embassy’s website on the death of Queen Elizabeth II, praising her wisdom and dedication in the service of her people.

Britain’s King Charles paid a heafelt tribute on Friday to his late mother Queen Elizabeth, vowing to serve with “loyalty, respect and love” as she had done for more than seven decades.

In his first address to the nation, Charles thanked the Queen for her devotion to her family and to those for whom she was monarch.

Elizabeth, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch and a towering presence on the world stage for 70 years, died on Thursday at her home in Scotland aged 96, drawing an outpouring of tributes from at home and around the globe.

“I speak to you today with feelings of profound sorrow,” said Charles, who became king on his mother’s death — head of state of the United Kingdom and 14 other realms including Australia, Canada, Jamaica, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
