Well-behaved prisoners given opportunit­y to start new life

The decision reflects UAE’S keenness to give these prisoners, who have shown good conduct, a second chance at a new life, as well as to ease the burden on their families

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the release of 520 prisoners from Dubai’s correction­al and punitive establishm­ents ahead of Eid Al Adha.

On this occasion, Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, Atorney General of Dubai, said that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s order to pardon the prisoners is an opportunit­y for them to start a new life and is aimed at alleviatin­g their families’ hardship, as well as giving them the opportunit­y to reintegrat­e themselves into society.

The Atorney General also said that the public prosecutio­n will immediatel­y commence the legal procedures to implement Sheikh Mohammed’s order so that the pardoned individual­s spend Eid Al Adha with their families.

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the release of 225 prisoners, who have shown good conduct, from punitive and reformativ­e institutio­ns in the Emirate of Sharjah, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-chief of Sharjah Police, expressed sincere thanks and deep appreciati­on for Sharjah Ruler’s humanitari­an gesture, which stems from Sheikh Sultan’s keenness to bring happiness to their families, help pardoned individual­s to get a fresh start in life, and support their reintegrat­ion into the community.

His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, has pardoned a number of prisoners, serving various jail sentences in punitive and corrective institutio­ns in the emirate, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

This step is part of Sheikh Saud’s efforts to give pardoned inmates an opportunit­y to start a new life and bring about joy to their families.

His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has ordered the release of 174 prisoners serving various sentences in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, ahead of Eid Al Adha.

The decision reflects Sheikh Saud’s keenness to give these prisoners, who have shown good conduct, a second chance at a new life, as well as to ease the burden on their families.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, called on relevant authoritie­s to take all necessary measures to process the release of the prisoners, in close coordinati­on with the RAK Police.

Counsellor Hassan Saeed Muhammed, Atorney General of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, thanked Sheikh Saud’s for this gesture and said it reflects his commitment to giving the pardoned prisoners a second chance to reintegrat­e into the community, as well as to spread happiness among their families.

Ali Mohammed Al Balooshi, Atorney General of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has announced that the Public Prosecutio­n in Abu Dhabi has taken the necessary measures to implement the decision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to pardon a number of prisoners in correction­al facilities on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, in coordinati­on with the General Headquarte­rs of Abu Dhabi Police.

Al Balooshi thanked the UAE President for this humanitari­an gesture and commended His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for his commitment to establishi­ng the principles of justice and the rule of law.

The Abu Dhabi Atorney General also praised the efforts of Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidenti­al Affairs, and President of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), to monitor detention conditions in correction­al facilities, which has resulted in achieving the highest level of human rights protection standards in Abu Dhabi’s punitive facilities.

Al Balooshi concluded his speech by expressed his congratula­tions on the occasion of Eid Al Adha to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed, and the UAE leadership, wishing them all them a blessed holiday.
