Youth leaders provide relief to virus-hit families
DUBAI: A group of volunteers gathered food items at SP Jain School of Global Management for families in need distributed as part of their Ramadan drive started by AIESEC in UAE and UAE Relief Initiative packaged and distributed 200 food packages across the emirates.
“Ramadan is synonymous with giving. As one of the largest global youth-led NGOS and NPOS, AIESEC develops leadership projects related to Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGS) to activate youth leadership. The #FasttogetherfeastTogether campaign was launched to honour the social responsibility towards our most affected communities and championed United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals #2: ZERO HUNGER,” said Tasnima Tayb, Project Leader and Local Commitee Vice President Outgoing Global Talent, AIESEC in UAE.
AIESEC was established in 1948 ater World War II, where seven youth across seven countries had a dream of building cross-cultural understanding across nations.
Members aged between 18-25 years, contributed to this well-synchronised project with departments such as business development, logistics and marketing. From developing corporate social partnerships to designing sustainable tote bags, finalising food purchases composed of a balanced meal to delivering them personally to each recipient, every step was managed internally by the volunteers.
UAE Relief Initiative, a volunteer based community born during the pandemic, was the campaign’s joint project partner. Founded by Aamer Al Yafei, an Emirati engineer, UAE Relief Initiative connects those in needs with those offering help, and have aided over 20,000 families since their initiation.
Furthering the altruistic mission, SP Jain Dubai enthusiastically commited as the lead sponsor. Reflecting on the university’s core values of Equity, Sustainability and Opportunity, the Dean Dr. Vaidy Jayaraman and Deputy Director Global Learning and Student Life, Megna Kalvani were highly eager to support in venue space, resources and student experiences.
