Special needs body marks National Day

DUBAI: Emirates down syndrome associatio­n( eds a) jointly hosted a virtual celebratio­n ahead of the UAE’S 49th National Day. The ceremony which was full of surprise for the children of determinat­ion was held at the Emirates Down Syndrome Associatio­n headquarte­rs in Dubai on Monday.

The event was held in line with the UAE’S Covid-19 precaution­ary and preventive measures. Uniting with the nation to mark the 49th UAE National Day, the children of Emirates Down Syndrome Associatio­n sang national anthems, painted the national flag, created food platers and sandwiches in the colours of the UAE flag. The event was held in collaborat­ion with the local franchise of a global toy retailer.

The event was conducted in the presence of Nawal Al Haj Nasser, ESDA vice chairperso­n, Salma Kannan, CEO of EDSA, Captain Khamis Ibrahim, founding member of EDSA and Jonathan Wats, general manager of Toys ‘R’ Us Mena region.

Wats said: “We want to make this national day celebratio­n a special one for these children and hope to fill their day with fun, laughter and joy. It was our privilege to spend quality time with the children .“through this initiative, we are delighted to join the country in celebratin­g the spirit of solidarity and unity.

“As the UAE’S official annual event, National Day brings together its multitude of nationalit­ies in a united celebratio­n of inclusivit­y and tolerance,” Wats added.
