Dubai Economy, Akshaak ink deal to support DED Trader licencees

Initiative allows Dubai start-ups to conduct business activities online and across social networking accounts

The Business Registrati­on & Licensing (BRL) sector in Dubai Economy has partnered with Akshaak, an online plaform, to support projects operating under the ‘DED Trader’ licence of Dubai Economy, which permits start-ups in Dubai to conduct business activities online and across social networking accounts.

As per the agreement, DED Trader licence holders can display and sell their products for free on htps://akshaak.com/ae/sell/ded with no commission on sales, delivery service, secure online payment, profession­al marketing for digital stores and smart control panel. This enables them to reach a larger number of consumers online.

Ahmad Alshaer, Senior Manager of Awareness division in BRL sector said: “Through ‘DED Trader’, Dubai Economy seeks to regulate doing business electronic­ally and making it easier, as well as enabling businesses to connect with customers and grow. This is in line with our strategy that focuses on enhancing the ease of doing business as well as driving the overall competitiv­eness and sustainabl­e growth of Dubai”.

“The cooperatio­n between Dubai Economy and Akshaak is in line with the emirate’s e-commerce strategy to create an inspiring environmen­t that promotes talent, and accelerate­s the growth of e-commerce. Together, we provide support to start-ups, such as DED Trader licence holders, to conduct business electronic­ally and accelerate their pace of growth in alignment with the global trends to ensure their success and growth,” added Alshaer.

Fahim Al Zubaidi, Chief Executive officer and Co-founder of Akshaak said: “Akshaak was founded and establishe­d not only as simple app to promote and list creative products, but also to align with the UAE’S direction to lead in digital based services competing with global firms. Akshaak’s objective is to build a digital community ecosystem that include a large share of talented artisans to keep human connection at the heart of commerce”.

Fahim added: “We help people to locate projects and start-ups using our plaform as we provide the opportunit­y for them to turn their ideas into successful businesses. The plaform will record statistics on start-ups in Dubai in the following categories; accessorie­s, food & drinks, arts & crats, fashion, health and beauty as a first phase.”

Dubai Economy focuses on providing support to DED Trader licence holders by signing partnershi­ps with government and private sectors, providing facilities for their business growth as well as opening new channels by enhancing cooperatio­n with major sales outlets.

All DED Trader licence holders willing to participat­e on the plaform need to register via the link htps://akshaak.com/en/sell/ded to create an account and follow the instructio­ns. Traders can also find related questions on Akshaak with descriptiv­e videos and infographi­cs for assistance.

The ‘DED Trader’ licence can be obtained from anywhere by logging on to dedtrader.ae and following a few simple steps - create username and password; enter address details, and social media accounts for the project/business; select the activity and trade name, and finally, make payment and receive the licence electronic­ally.

The licensee cannot open a shop/store but can avail of three visas if the ownership is 100 per cent Emirati and legal liability falls under the licence holder.

Earlierthe­commercial­compliance&consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector in Dubai Economy has launched a new e-services package for traders and customers as part of the efforts to continuous­ly enhance service quality, convenienc­e as well as accessibil­ity, and promote a safe economic environmen­t that enables sustainabl­e growth.

The new service will enable traders to submit an objection request to violations issued on commercial licences, enquire about fines and setle them, and obtain the list of inspection reports relating to their business, all online.

Customers can access the new services from anywhere through the consumer rights website without having to visit visit service centres.

CCCP developed the services in line with the directives of the Government of Dubai to continuous­ly develop and enhance e-services and smart plaforms in the emirate, thus supporting the Dubai Paperless Strategy, which aims to build a paper-free future by 2021.
