Arab man killed in Ajman accident

AJMAN: An Arab national, identified as BSG, 49, was killed while his wife, 35, and two children aged 3 and 4, sustained minor injuries at er his car had over turned in Al Zawra area on Al Itihad Street in Ajman.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Falasi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Ajman Police, the accident took place as a result of the driver being busy with his mobile phone, causing the vehicle to swerve abruptly to hit the pavement and then overturn in the central reservatio­n. Police patrols, civil defence vehicles and national ambulances rushed to the scene of the accident to rescue the injured.

However, the driver succumbed to the injuries he sustained when the vehicle overturned because he did not fasten the seatbelt.

Al Falasi pointed out that busying oneself with mobile phones is now a major cause of traffic accidents. He stressed the need for drivers to concentrat­e, leave mobile phones while driving, fasten seatbelts and abide by traffic rules.

Separately, the Criminal Investigat­ion at the General Command of Ajman Police arrested a gang of three, charged with forging leases and documents issued by a government body.

Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of the CID said they received informatio­n about an Arab, MMG, who used to forge official documents for money.

Al Nuaimi added that ater taking all the legal procedures, an investigat­ion team was formed and the suspect was arrested red handed forging a residentia­l lease and electricit­y and water bills for DHSHS2,500. On being interrogat­ed, he confessed to commiting the crime, conniving with a compatriot, MHM and an Asian, MSG.

The suspects confessed to the charge and were all referred to the Public Prosecutio­n.

In yet another unrelated developmen­t The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisat­ion is applying new procedures under which recruitmen­t offices are required to extend the period of guarantee of a domestic worker to two years as per specific regulation­s in implementa­tion of a decision issued by the Cabinet with respect to the executive regulation­s related to domestic worker law that took effect recently.

According to Khalil Khouri, Assistant Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisat­ion for Domestic Workers Affairs, affirmed that offices licensed to mediate for recruiting or temporaril­y employing domestic workers, be they Tadbeer service centres or other offices, are obligated to pay back full or part of recruitmen­t cost to employers as per the remaining period of the employment contract.
