LOC annouces 38 YLP lucky winners
ABU DHABI: With just 10 days to go, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) has announced 38 lucky winners of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 Youth Leadership Programme (YLP), all of whom will play an integral role in the tournament this December.
The winners have earned the amazing opportunity to be a part of the tournament as official flag bearers or ball carriers.
“We have seen an overwhelming response to the Youth Leadership Programme,” said Aref Hamad Al Awani, Tournament Director of the LOC. “The vision for this programme is to empower our youth to become tournament ambassadors and promote our national football pride story, as UAE hosts the FIFA Club World Cup for the third time.
“We are rewarding their determined efforts with the opportunity to stand alongside some of the world’s top international football players from the best clubs in the world.
“The Mobile Roadshow will continue to tour the UAE as we work towards inspiring and educating youth about the importance of sport in their professional and personal development.” he added.
The programme, a nation-wide search for Youth Leaders to become the champion of their communities to actively showcase the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017, began in September and has seen thousands of participants from schools, universities and youth football academies across the UAE.
In their role as FIFA Club World Cup Youth Leaders, participants were tasked with engaging their community, family and friends to help drive interest and create a buzz around the competition in December.
“I am so honoured to be part of the Youth Leadership Programme. It is presenting me with a fantastic opportunity to be an ambassador for the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 to meet the world’s best football players and represent the UAE’S youth.
“I’m really looking forward to be involved as a flag carrier,” said Elizabeth Morgan (17 years old) who attends GEMS Cambridge International School in Banyias.
