Alkaabi, Al Ameri excel at Al Shaheed Jiu-jitsu C’ship
ABU DHABI: In the presence of UAE Navy Major-general Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamdan and Sheikh Khalifa Bin Tahnoun Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Director of The Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Ofice at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, the Third Al Shaheed Jiu-jitsu Championship dedicated to honour and appreciate the memory of the nation’s brave martyrs, concluded at the Mubadala Arena on Saturday.
An honourable performance by UAE girls on Day One of the championship witnessed a remarkable and strong level of competition amongst the participating athletes.
Aysha K Ali Alkaabi, white belt, won gold in the 28kg category, while in the 36 kg category, Maya Abdulla Al Ameri, also a white belt walked away with the gold medal. White belt Hamda Youssefwon gold in the 48 kg category.
High level of performance on Day Two Results of the Day Two Second day of the championship saw strong competition amongst the under 18 male players.
White belt holder Mansour Alblooshi won the gold medal in the 24kg category, while Saif Abdulhakim Alsuwaidi, also a white belt holder was awarded gold for his efforts in the 42 kg category. Sheikh Theyab Bin Saeed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, grey belt, was awarded the gold medal in the 30 kg category.
Al Karama Medal (Medal of Dignity) The UAEJJF specially designed this medal for the Al Shaheed Championship, engraved with Wahat Al Karama symbol to honour the nation’s martyrs and in commemoration of their sacrifices and loyalty.
The event was organized by the UAE Jiu-jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) in collaboration with the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court/
The second day the championship was graced by the presence of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Khalid Al na hy an; you n es hajialk ho uri, the Uae finance minister under secretary; Abdul Mohsen Al Dosari, Assistant Secretary-general for the sports sector at the General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare; Abdulmoneim Al Hashemi, President of the UAEJJF Federation and the Asian Jiu-jitsu Federation; Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAEJJF; and Mohammed Bin Dalmouj Al Dhahiri, Board Member of UAEJJF.
