UAE Egyptians in state of absolute shock

- LINA ABDEL RAHMAN

SHARJAH: The gruesome killing of over 300 Egyptians, who were attending Friday prayers at Rawada mosque, 40 km west of the North Sinai capital of El Arish, shocked the world, the expatriates in the UAE and sparked more people to loathe terrorism for it has nothing to do with Islam, a religion of love and tolerance.

The inhumane militants, who wrongly claim to fight for Islam, did not consider or respect the sanctity of the scene of the barbaric attack (the house of God) against defenceless and innocent worshipers. Egypt has announced three days of mourning after the gruesome carnage

The news of the tragic incident did not only sadden Egyptians, but the world was equally taken aback and consequently showed solidarity by proclaiming support for Egypt in it’s bid to root out terrorism.

In countries such as France, lights were turned off at the Eiffel Tower to mourn the victims of the bloody attack, while in other countries, flags flew at half mast in denouncement of the terror attack.

Khalid Samy, an Egyptian businessman called for tough action against the perpetrators of the attack and also urged the world to back Egypt and all other countries fighting terrorism.

Khalid Samy, an Egyptian businessman called for tough action against the perpetrators of the attack and also urged the world to back Egypt and all other countries ighting terrorism.

“This group of attackers have nothing to do with Islam. They are simply extremists adhering to evil and and not God’s teachings. I personally believe that tough action must be taken in Sinai, where most of the extremists are hiding.

“It should be totally emptied of innocent civilians to ensure their safety and then the terrorist groups should be completely rooted out. All countries must stand together in solidarity and support to Egypt and must strongly and aggressively ight back terrorism. Action must be taken against countries supporting and inancing the terrorist groups whose main mission is to destabilise the Arab world,” said Samy.

Hesa Ahmed, an Emirati business- woman, said that she could not stop crying after hearing about the terror attack and watching footage of the tragic death of innocent worshipers, who were fatally shot by the ruthless extremists.

“It is not only sad news for Egyptians, but for all of us. Egypt has been bravely facing and ighting terrorism whose main aim is to jeopardize the safety and stability of the Arab world and divide countries, but God’s grace will protect Egypt and other countries from such devilish plans.”

Laila Yousef, an Egyptian dentist, expressed her sadness about the attack and called for tracking down and punishing the masterminds of the attack as they are spreading hate in the country.

“I couldn’t stop crying after watching the sad news. We are ighting cowardly and inhumane individuals. It’s heartbreaking to watch the worshipers lying in a pool of blood after the gruesome attack. I think the whole world must unit together to ight terrorism for it only aims at bloody massacres. We will stand tough and strong in the ight terrorists and extremists,” said Yousef.
