There’s trouble in paradise...
B dindi Irwin has h been b candid about her desire for commitment with her long-time lover Chandler Powell.
“I think it’s really lovely when people ask about [our possible engagement],” Bindi, 20, said last week. “I promise you, if and when we do get engaged and married, I won’t keep it a secret. I’ll be yelling from the rooftops!”
But exclusive photos obtained by Woman’s Day have fans speculating whether the pair’s relationship is on the rocks. Just days before their five-and-a-half year anniversary, they appeared uncharacteristically downcast at Disneyland in California.
“They were miserable and you could cut the tension between them with a knife,” says an onlooker.
Sources say Bindi is becoming impatient as she waits for her 22-year-old boyfriend to pop the question, and is wondering if she can keep waiting forever.
“Bindi plays down the marriage card thing and knows Chandler is in ‘no rush’, but his laidback attitude is starting to grate on her,” an insider spills. “She used to think it was a case of waiting for the right time, but now she’s thinking it’ll never happen.”
The Australian conservationist and former US wakeboarding pro started dating in 2015, with Chandler moving to Australia last year. However, life hasn’t been picture-perfect, with the couple clashing as they spend more time together working at Australia Zoo and filming Crikey! It’s The Irwins.
“He has ideas of how he would like things to be filmed and obviously Bindi does too, and sometimes they clash,” explains the source. “When they’re at loggerheads, Bindi is quick to point out there’s no ring on her finger.”
