MARRIAGE ON THE ROCKS

Kim and Kanye reach breaking point

-

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have weathered plenty of ups and downs in their six-year union. But when a visibly tearful Kardashian came face to face with West on July 27 for the first time following his recent outbursts and incendiary tweets, tensions clearly had reached a breaking point. “Kim loves Kanye, but she doesn’t know what to do and she feels trapped,” an insider says of the couple, whose reunion took place at the family’s ranch in Cody, Wyoming, where West, 43, has been staying while Kardashian, 39, has been in Los Angeles with their four children. “She has a lot to say to him. She’s had enough.”

The insider says West “totally ghosted” Kardashian as she tried for days to reach him, and he finally agreed to meet with her after some nudging from mutual pal Justin Bieber, who visited on July 24. “Justin actually told Kanye that he needs to talk to Kim. He didn’t want to face her. He knows he disappointed her, that she’s upset, and that makes him upset,” the insider notes.

Already existing strains in the couple’s marriage worsened after West – who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2018 – announced his unlikely run for president on July 4, and later publicly claimed that he and Kardashian had discussed aborting her pregnancy with daughter North, now 7.

“I almost killed my daughter,” he cried at the July 19 rally in South Carolina. “So even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world, even when I didn’t want to.”

Even more shockingly, West later claimed in a tweet that he had been trying to split from the reality star since 2018. “I’ve been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Waldorf for ‘prison reform,’” he wrote. “Kim was out of line.”

Before his latest run of troubling behaviour, the two had discussed ending their union and “were even attempting to figure out the most amicable and loving co-parenting situation”, according to a source close to the Wests, who also share sons Saint, 4, and Psalm, 1, and daughter Chicago, 2. Now, “Kanye has gone down a different path. Everything that’s happening right now is just like a horrible sideshow to what the real issues are,” says the source.

After Kardashian made a public plea for “compassion” amid West’s mental health struggles on July 22, West released a remorseful statement of his own. “To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me,” he tweeted on July 25.

A West source notes, “Kanye has a lot of regrets about sharing such private details. He definitely understands
