THE ELDEST JOLIE-PITT CHILD BREAKS HIS SILENCE
TOUCHING DOWN AT NARITA INTERNATIONAL Airport in Tokyo on September 11, Brad Pitt smiled, waved to fans and signed autographs but stayed mum as he made his way through the building. Earlier in the day, Pitt’s son Maddox (who he shares with ex-wife Angelina Jolie) discussed their father-son dynamic in a paparazzi video obtained by In Touch Weekly. When asked whether Pitt plans to visit him at Yonsei University in South Korea, the 18-year-old responded, “I don’t know about that [or] what’s happening.”The biochemistry student went on to pour some doubt over his relationship with the Ad Astra star, saying: “Whatever happens, happens.”
Page Six quotes an insider who has suspicions about the interaction, which, according to UK’s The Sun, was produced by Coleman-Rayner, the agency that set up photos with Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas. “Maddox seemed prepared for the interview,” says the insider. “He wasn’t trying to fend off the interviewer – so people in the industry think maybe it’s an effort by Jolie’s camp to stir things up, even though things have been relatively calm.”
In 2016, it was reported that an alleged altercation between Maddox and Pitt led to Jolie filing for divorce. In an interview with The New York Times, Pitt revealed that post-divorce, he joined an Alcoholics Anonymous group. “I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges,” he said. Asked about how his parenting style has evolved in an interview with The Project, Pitt said, “I’m certainly better at listening and asking questions about how they feel, instead of just trying to imprint one of my bits of wisdom on them.”
In August, Jolie travelled to Korea to settle her oldest son into his new college. She talked openly about “ugly crying” at the airport and revealed she will visit again. “I miss him,” she told Entertainment Tonight on August 25. “I’ll just get out there. It’s not like I haven’t set my plane tickets.”
