Simple to see why council traffic engineers didn’t take up brain surgery. Shoehorned light rail into 2 of the city’s main streets in Southport and Surfers Paradise. Totally stuffed up traffic. Now a snail pace. Then gloat about reduced car traffic on those two roads and all roads feeding to and from. Recent traffic statistics confirm light rail is not a success for the community as a whole. Just a few subsidised passengers. Businesses are still severely hurting years after construction finished. Colin, Southport.

Sorry to tell you this, but Chris Ullman is a diehard Liberal reporter. I have read feature articles that he participated in stating that he is. When he left the ABC I thought at the time who is left. Leigh Sales says she gets accused of being too left and too right on 7.30.

The age pension is give or take around 400 a week. How come Ciobo who is nowhere near pension age is going to get 4000 a week for life. No politician is ever going to change this lucrative system, but it needs changing badly. This system not only stinks, it reeks. Bet the figure paid out in pensions to all retired Prime Ministers, Ministers, Senators and pollies, still living and all their free perks surpasses all money paid age pensioners. Bet they don’t lose an ounce of sleep and are very grateful of the easy career they chose. Mary S

Oldie. You hit the nail on the head with the statement that trams only serve “a narrow band of residents” all others have to drive to it then clog up the parking in suburban streets. Buses use roads that are already in place and can go to wherever a new housing development springs up. This is madness to continue the tramway lines which will even further clog up our flow of traffic on our arterial roads. The lunatics have taken over the asylum in this matter. Jayar, Palmy.

To Sue, proud mum. You just don’t wake up one morning and decide to be gay, do some research. Rosi

Another stuff up for the NRL by the Commonwealth Games super brain. Barney

We have life and funeral insurance – who’s doing divorce insurance to protect us in times of loss and financial hardship? Norm.

Wat a joke that Freckleton is. When Newman and Abbott were in they hired heaps of ex feds to the QBCC but all they do is tell people to not join a union. They don’t chase builders who don’t pay subbies until the builder declares bankrupt. LNP voted against reforms for industry as the builders are their donators. jk

This week on the ABC I watched, Death in Paradise,

The Child, The Informer and listened to 91.7 FM and not one bit of bias. Keep up the great work ABC. Palmyboy

I don’t usually use the light rail but this week had four journeys over two days. Tram was full each time. People standing until someone got off. And not during peak time. Did you get on a tram Treeman, or just try to look inside from your car window?

How absobloodylutely excellent to see the Nats finally looking to dump the execrably useless MicMac. Bring back Bonkaby. Let us all reJoyce. Pterodactyl Trev

What would really make the lines in supermarket checkouts move faster is if those arrogant people on their phones get the hell off them and have their cash or card ready to pay, but I guess that would be like cutting off one of limbs. Zorba

Hey Treeman, the air must be a bit thin up there. Come down to ground level and take a look at the trams. Often full, and that’s not even during peak times

Scientists are saying that Saturn is officially losing its rings … they will now disappear 200 million years sooner. . Who do we blame for climate change there? Spud

What’s Peter Beattie doing to break the Broncos 30-year monopoly of Brisbane down there at NRL headquarters. Not much by the look of things. They still have 9 teams in Sydney when it should be no more than 6 maximum. As a Queenslander he should be insisting on another side in Brisbane and another in Central Queensland with another in Perth. Lets see what legacy he leaves when his time is up or is he just there for the money?

Go away Clive and take your band of gullible misfits with you. Stop inflicting your cheap and nasty political ads on us. The people of Townsville have not forgotten, and neither has the rest of Australia. Rudy R

Another cable on a tower crane came crashing down on the foot path at Mermaid Beach today just missing an elderly lady, apparently no one injured! Thought they were going to pull these cowboys into line after the last one in Broady. Mick, Mermaid
