Buyers spend big on luxury offerings
Sale results reflect waterfront market’s popularity, agent says
The prestige market has notched up two suburb-topping sales and some cracking beachfront results ahead of the last week of the spring selling season. A sprawling near-new Mermaid Waters property known as the White House sold for $7.3m – breaking the record for the most expensive residential sale in the popular suburb by $2m.
At Bilinga, a three-level Hamptons-style home changed hands for $7.75m in an offmarket deal – also a suburb record.
Then, at Burleigh Heads, eight bidders competed for a glam full-floor apartment. It went for $4.75m, an uplift of $800,000 from the last time it sold, one year ago.
Surfers Paradise was another hotspot for buyers wanting to stake their claim on the sand in time for summer, with a full-floor renovated sub-penthouse in the Madison Point building on Main Beach Parade snapped up in seven days for $4.85m.
A crowd of about 100 people gathered for the auction of 43 Markeri St, Mermaid Waters, with 14 bidders in line for the coastal showstopper. It sold to a local buyer following a 15-minute marathon of 61 bids.
The 2020-built home on a 1222sq m block offers wide canal frontage and a pontoon, infinity-edge pool, hot and cold plunge pools, home gym, cinema, entertaining zones, and guest retreat.
It was marketed by Kollosche agents Taylor Kleinberg and Jamie Harrison.
At Bilinga, Ed Cherry, of Harcourts Coastal, negotiated the sale of a fivebedroom, four-bathroom home at 232 Pacific Parade. The two-year-old build features Hamptons-inspired interiors and al fresco areas that capture ocean views.
Meanwhile, at Burleigh Heads, a Queensland-based buyer took the keys to a full-floor apartment in the residents-only Element building, at 33/106 The Esplanade.
Harcourts Coastal Prestige agent Tolemy Stevens marketed the threebedroom, three-bathroom pad for auction.
Rob Forde fielded offers from eight bidders. The opening bid was $3.5m. Property records show the 10th-floor home last sold for $3.95m in November 2022.
“It shows the strength of the beachfront market in Burleigh Heads and the Gold Coast where the demand for luxury apartments is outweighing supply,” Mr Stevens said.
