Bloods go down in upset

LANG LANG moved closer to securing its position in the Ellinbank District under 16 top five, defeating its more fancied opponent Trafalgar.

Trafalgar kicked out to an early 19-point advantage courtesy of four goals to one in the first term, only for the Tigers to storm home with six of the final seven goals to win 7-8 (50) to 5-4 (34).

Jarrad Francome, Ashton Townley, Blake Lyon, Rhylee Duell, Archie Thompson and Blake Greenaway helped Lang Lang storm home.

Leading the fast start for Trafalgar were Toby McCabe, Brock Gill, Juddson Ryan, Liam Coulthard, William Bremner and Archie Fraser.

BULN BULN set up its win over Poowong with a strong first half.

The Lyrebirds kicked seven goals to one and were never headed on the way to winning, 11-8 (74) to 3-2 (20).

Lachlan Budd, Charlie Lindau, Cameron Eccles, Tyler Best and Bailen Lewien helped Buln Buln kick away.

The Magpies were competitiv­e in the third term, with one goal apiece. They were best served by Gavin Monson, Rory Nettle, Jett Blackwood, Kohen Mandemaker, Johnathan Wilson and Angus Riley.

LONGWARRY overcame a slow start to record a comfortabl­e victory over Yarragon, 10-12 (72) to 2-1 (13).

After managing 3-7 to half time, the Crows booted seven goals to two in the second half.

Tyler van der Heyden, Mitchell Grant, Hamish Colvin, Nathaniel Macgraw and Blake White helped Longwarry kick away.

Keeping Yarragon in the contest early were Ty Keeble, Connor O'Sullivan, Rhys McDonald-Flegg, Kai Clancy, Dane Jarvis and Angus Kirkham.

ELLINBANK kept Nilma-Darnum goalless on the way to winning 15-12 (102) to 0-2 (2).

Still the Bombers fought to the end, conceding just one goal in a fine final quarter effort.

Luke Rollinson, Taj Irwin, Archie Martel, Jack Winduss, Shayne Sherry and Lucas Tyrrell led the way for the Eagles.

Nilma-Darnum's best were Leo Robley, Nate Young, Levi Fisher, Edward Arms, Jaxon Cook and Kade Rossboroug­h.
