Security upgrades

-

Security at a number of public areas in Baw Baw Shire, particularly sporting reserves, will be boosted by funding from the State government.

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said the funding from the Community Safety Infrastructure Grants was part of the government’s Community Crime Prevention Program.

Projects will be undertaken at Trafalgar, Warragul, Longwarry, Rawson, Rokeby and Drouin.

At Warragul, nine High Definition security cameras will be installed at the Western Park reserve, additional cameras located in the central business district and security shutters installed on clubrooms at Eastern Park reserve.

Security lighting and fencing will be installed at Bellbird Park in Drouin and a solar security light at the netball courts at

Drouin recreation reserve. Trafalgar’s recreation reserve will get eight HD cameras and the town’s skate park and car park two multidirectional cameras.

Multi-directional cameras will also be provided at two locations in Rawson township and the town’s Dunstan Oval will have protective bollards installed.

Longwarry recreation reserve will get six HD cameras.

At Rokeby Trail carpark a four-metre high pole will be installed with a solar panel and battery system to power CCTV equipment. A HD camera with a 4G router will enable internet access for remote viewing and playback.

Ms Shing said the works would be undertaken as soon as it is safe to do so and, where possible, will involve engagement of local employees through the Working for Victoria program that prioritises jobs for those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
