Time to move to another town

-

You can tell the human Melbourne element is flooding Warragul. There seems to be an influx of obnoxious, rude arrogant people in this area now, quite different to the friendly courteous behaviour we are so used to.

These days if they’re not standing out the front of their 4WDs in their lycra gear sipping their lattes, they’re being rude enough to steal shopping car parks from people if they haven’t fully driven in yet.

After seeing too much of this, I think it’s time to move to a better country town where good old fashioned values still exist.

It is often the case that those with a weak argument resort to falsehoods in an attempt to improve an otherwise weak point.

For the record – if such a motion had ever been moved – I would not have seconded it in any case. I cannot speak for other councillors.

Cr Danny Goss, Warragul

The town of Drouin, as with other parts of the shire, has seen some wonderful housing developments, developments that enhance and protect the surroundings, provide facilities such as parks and pathways and deliver good quality housing options.

This development does none of those things. As reported in the Gazette, at its meeting in March, Councillors spoke vehemently against this application referring to it as “slums”.

But it is not a simple matter to take this matter to a hearing at VCAT. The hearing would need legal representation and expert advice on town planning and environmental impact. A big decision indeed.

Any resident or ratepayer of Baw Baw Shire can attend the council meeting on May 23. Arrive early if you would like to register to speak at the meeting. Chris Healy, Drouin
