by Adam Johnson Hallora 9/334cc vs. Drouin With the weather Gods smiling down on the Warragul District Cricket Association, Hallora made the most of favourable conditions to pile on a very intimidating total against Drouin.

After being asked to bat by the visiting captain the Kangas openers made a positive start. Barry Heywood found plenty of gaps striking 11 boundaries on his way to 66.

Brian McDonald was the key to the home sides big total, batting through the larger part of the day to record a career high 127. McDonald found willing partners in Shayne Kearney (32) and Paul Smith (38) as the score climbed towards the 300 mark.

Some late contributions from the tail ensured the home side faced their full complement of overs, giving them the upper hand at the end of day one.

Brian McCarty and Jesse Craig were the best of the bowlers with two wickets each. Both collected key scalps for their side with McCarty claiming the wicket of Heywood and Craig picking up McDonald.

The Hawks will have plenty of work to do next week but with the likes of McCarty and Andrew Downie in the line-up the target is not out of reach.
