Christmas appeal launched

-

UnitingCare launched their annual Christmas appeal in Warragul recently.

Supported by Target, the UnitingCare Christmas Appeal has been an exclusive gift giving campaign offering support to disadvantaged people of all ages for the past 25 years.

The campaign is launched in all Target stores in early November each year and aims to make Christmas more special for the thousands of Australians who, for various reasons, are unable to celebrate Christmas with gifts.

Thanks to the generosity of the Australian community, UnitingCare and Target have collected more than 2.1 million gifts in the past 25 years. More than 45,000 gifts and $582,000 were donated at Target stores across the country last year, enabling UnitingCare to assist thousands of struggling families.

The 2016 Christmas Appeal aims to raise $1.5 million and collect as many gifts as possible. All money raised will enable UnitingCare to provide assistance with Christmas gifts, food, shelter and crisis support over the Christmas period.

People wishing to donate can take their unwrapped gift to Target, Warragul or buy a bauble gift bag from the checkout to donate to the appeal.

All donated gifts stay in the local area and generous donations made at the registers are distributed throughout the state to where it’s needed most.

People are encouraged to donate early so that UnitingCare representatives can ensure the gifts are distributed in time for Christmas.
