Followers oppose new offices

-

Redevelopment of Drouin’s shire offices is “on time and on budget” according to Baw Baw Shire chief executive officer Helen Anstis.

The $2.78 million redevelopment will accommodate 120 permanent staff at the office and also will include 14 “hot desks” that will cater for staff that work between the Warragul and Drouin offices.

The new office is scheduled to open for business on August 3.

Last week’s story in The Gazette attracted significant community comment on The Gazette’s Facebook page. These were some of the comments:

Elizabeth Shaw - With our beautiful undulating, green surrounds as inspiration, paid professionals came up with this…Crooked shark teeth and mission brown, my five year old could have come up with a better design more fitting with the landscape.

Lisa Heggart - Yet another waste of ratepayers money, bring in the administrators!

Daniel Hatch - Glad the ‘renovation’ came along well…would hate to see what ripping it down and putting up something new would have looked like.

Karen Edwards - Disgusting waste of our money! Renovation, I don’t think so. It was demolished to a concrete slab. How is it beneficial to our people removing it from Warragul when Warragul CBD is slowly dying. Are the underprivileged people of Trafalgar and Warragul expected to get on a train? Approving all these new estates and having no infrastructure and no services where’s the common sense!!

Phoebe Rae - In the meantime Trafalgar’s shire office has closed. Perhaps making do with what was there or simplifying the redevelopment to leave funds to also offer a front desk service in our town might have been a wise move.

Darlene Fankhauser Too bad they didn’t think of any more parking for Drouin both around the new complex and everywhere else.

Vince Bourke - I pay over $4000 a year in rates I think I own a share of the new offices.

Rod Graham - On budget…the truth will come out.

Annie McCabe - The ugliest structure I have seen in a long while.

Elise Jade Yuill - All this negativity. Why? So frustrating. I know people don’t just vent like this online they do it to the staff as well. Which is so uncalled for.

They are humans with feelings. Think about how you would feel if people talked to you and about you like this. You would be hurt and annoyed.

Doing the best they can with the resources they are given. Seriously people take a step back and try to appreciate what they do instead of always slamming everything they do.
