Netflix Premium

THE ONE TO GET.

-

IF YOU WANT to stream Netflix in 4K, you’ll need to pony up for the Premium plan, which will set you back a not-significant $17.99 a month. The good news is that this lets you stream to up to four screens simultaneously, so you could theoretically split the monthly charge between four people (at least, until Netflix figures out how to stop password-sharing).

Now, it could well be that Netflix has the largest library of 4K videos, but it’s hard to say for sure as there’s no way to actually search for it specifically. The only way to know is by checking the information screen for each show individually, which specifies whether it’s ‘Ultra HD 4K’ or ‘HD’.

But there are a couple of other ways to find 4K content on Netflix. If you scroll down the home screen, one of the content categories should be ‘Ultra HD 4K’, and you can scroll sideways through the thumbnails to browse through several dozen movies and TV shows. This is by no means an exhaustive list, however, and you can find a reasonably up-to-date complete list on the Finder website: https://www.finder. com.au/netflix-4k-uhd-content.

That said, Netflix’s monthly asking price is a worthwhile investment for making the most of your 4K TV, with a fast-growing library of high calibre, highly-bingeable content that will take your telly through its paces. Most of this content comes by way of Netflix Original movies and TV shows; we recommend Black Mirror for a chilling taste of a dystopian, not-to-distant future, Haunting of Hill House for an exceptionally scary series that you probably shouldn’t watch by yourself, and Dirty John to see Eric Bana at his psychopathic finest.
