Arnhen class on show
CHAMPION Arnhen Villain’s first run this year was all class, and he will again be hard to beat at Winnellie Park tonight.
After winning by two lengths last Sunday, the 2016 Greyhound of the Year will run over the same distance in race two’s $975 Division One Dash.
“It was good to see him come back like that – he trialled well for us leading into that race,” Hosking said of his fouryear-old.
“Not to say we expected him to win, but we expected him to go well and it was good to see.
“It’s just a matter of finding him races now because he’s not yet fit enough for 500m.”
In the $2100 NT Government race-five feature, the newcomer for Graeme Ferns – From The States – will certainly be one to watch over the 537m journey.
Black Jungle (Richard Smith) is also racing well, while Storm Blazer (Ron Phillips) is the one to beat from box one.
Race one’s $1015 UBET DASH Division 1 includes laststart winner Our Josie (Hosking), who will face stiff opposition from Out There Jerry ( Andrew Lasker), and kennelmates Arnhem Rogue and Good Bye Joan.
Race three is a tricky one with numerous chances, including the Joel Vanslevetrained Booberry, who was freshened-up for this assignment.
Faddeev can improve from last week’s run and coming out of box one in race four, the three-year-old must come into calculations for trainer Chris Blackman.
Graeme Scott has a strong hand in race six with Hesitator and Casual Steak, both capable of strong performances.
Newcomer Reno Aden is an interesting runner for Jamie Hosking first-up and warrants respect in race seven.
Graeme Ferns’s Torment and Fallen are open to improvement.
Russell Savige has a great chance in race eight with Tyler Rocks, Sarah Barramundi and Noddin Off.
In race nine, Outlaw Clyde (Hosking) has been a little disappointing of late, but capable of improvement in this line-up.
His main challengers could be Night Harmony from box one and Volantis (both for Savige) who has also drawn nicely in box eight.
