Sleep tight

Three more retreats to help you doze off.

-

Revīvō Wellness Resort, Nusa Dua, Bali

With yoga, primordial sound therapy, holistic massages, facials and meditation bookended each day by mindfulness exercises, it’s no wonder participants in Revīvō’s Sleep Well Retreat (revivoresorts.com; above) start clocking up zeds. As well as the mix of activities to help you fall asleep (and stay that way), meals are designed to kickstart brain chemicals such as melatonin and serotonin. While some alcohol can be purchased, the only shots you’re likely to throw down at this swish 16-villa resort contain kombucha or ginger and turmeric. Programs run all year and require a minimum four-night stay (there is no maximum).

Amatara Wellness Resort, Phuket, Thailand

The folks at Amatara on Phuket’s picturesque Cape Panwa describe your participation in their five- or seven-night sleep retreat as a “partnership” (amataraphuket.com). They offer nourishing food and a range of therapies, including polysomnography, an overnight sleep test, and you commit to ignoring your device from sunset until after breakfast each day. With several forms of yoga and head, foot, neck and shoulder massages, you’ll be asleep before you can say… polysomnography.

Kamalaya, Koh Samui, Thailand

While Kamalaya’s Sleep Enhancement program (five, seven or nine nights) will have you snoozing in no time, the aim here is to equip you for life (kamalaya. com). Starting and ending with a wellness consultation and deploying naturopathy, traditional Chinese medicine and massage, the course addresses the body imbalances that prevent quality sleep. If straight dreaming is the aim, stay awake and gaze out over the tropical landscape to the glistening Gulf of Thailand.
