HOW TO GET THERE

IRELAND’S SOUTH-WEST GOLF TRAIL

-

Ireland’s South Western Golf Trail is one of the ‘bucket list’ destinations in world golf. While the main attraction is the golf, the picturesque scenery and welcoming smiles to be experienced throughout Ireland’s south are just as famous. Qantas Golf Club holiday packages can take you there with a golf vacation you will remember forever. Upon arrival at Shannon Airport, you will collect your car (or meet with your private driver) and head to the Malton Hotel in Killarney, your base for three nights.

The first round (on day two) is at the Arnold Palmer-designed Tralee, while day three is further afield on the Ring of Kerry at Waterville. Your third round of the trip is across the spectacular Old Head Links, which features stunning ocean views on every hole ( right). Day five brings a change of scene as you head for Doonbeg, with a stop on the way to play Tom Watson’s favourite Irish layout, the Old course at Ballybunion Golf Club.

The next three nights’ accommodation are at the five-star Doonbeg Lodge, which overlooks the spectacular Greg Normandesigned course and the Atlantic Ocean.

Your fifth round of the holiday is across the Doonbeg course, where the ocean is visible from 16 of the 18 holes and includes one of the world’s great par-3s – the 14th hole ( left).

The final round is at the famous Lahinch Golf Club, which was created by Old Tom Morris and later redesigned by the great Dr Alister MacKenzie. The package starts from $4,750 per person and there is an option to upgrade from self-drive to a private driver for the duration of the tour.
