RUCK AND Maul questions the wisdom of Truth sports hack John ‘‘Jabba’’ Matheson in agreeing on-air on Radio Live last week to a boxing challenge with former Kiwi hardman and Fight For Life promoter Dean Lonergan. Exasperated at Matheson’s flimsy claims as a boxing commentator of repute, big Deano made the classic ‘‘get in the ring!’’ call and was as surprised as anybody when his opponent agreed. We think Lonergan should sell ring-side seats and corporate tables because it could be a bigger earner than any of his previous promotions. The queue of notables lining up to see Matho get his beans would be a who’s who of Kiwi sport! Somehow we think it won’t happen, and not because of any reluctance on Deano’s behalf. More’s the pity.
