Udogie lay-off adds to Postecoglou woe

TOTTENHAM fear left back Destiny Udogie will be out until March after he suffered a hamstring injury in their 2-2 draw with Wolves.

Mail Sport understands the initial prognosis is that the Italy international will miss around eight weeks. Udogie limped off in the 50th minute last weekend to be replaced by Sergio Reguilon, who made his first Premier League appearance for Spurs since 2022.

The 22-year-old’s absence arrives at the worst possible time for manager Ange Postecoglou, who is coping with a growing list of injured players in defence. Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies and keeper Guglielmo Vicario are all out and Radu Dragusin had to play through the pain barrier against Wolves. One positive is that Djed Spence is available to play against Newcastle tomorrow after suspension. The north Londoners will seek new signings in this month’s transfer window as they bid to alleviate the pressure on their injury-hit squad.

For now, though, Postecoglou must make do with what he has, as he looks to turn around a desperate run of one win in seven Premier League matches.

The Australian still has the backing of the club’s board, despite the poor sequence.
