RICCARDO CALAFIORI has been allowed to return to Arsenal to get fit for the North London derby.

Gunners defender Calafiori (top) was released from the Italy squad after suffering a freak injury in their 3-1 win over France on Friday night.

Arsenal hope it is not a serious issue but the Italian FA agreed to let him leave before tonight’s Nations League game with Israel in Budapest.

The hope is Calafiori will be ready to face Tottenham on Sunday.

Calafiori was outstanding in Italy’s win over France but had to be substituted after Paris Saint Germain star Ousmane Dembele was tackled and fell on the Arsenal defender’s leg.

Arsenal are already without Declan Rice for the Tottenham clash through suspension. And £32million midfield signing Mikel Merino is out with a fractured shoulder.
