GUEHI’S GOING ON DEFENSIVE
MARC GUEHI knows Crystal Palace must improve their defending from set-pieces at Arsenal tomorrow – or watch their Carabao Cup hopes disappear.
Eagles boss Oliver Glasner said it was “embarrassing” to see his side concede four goals from set-plays at Leeds on Saturday.
Glasner admitted he focused too much on Leeds’ tactics and not enough on making sure his players won the physical duels.
But Palace have no time to feel sorry for themselves in the midst of a crammed schedule of eight games in 24 days across four competitions, starting with an EFL Cup quarter-final at the Emirates. And captain Guehi (left) said: “We will play a team who are better than Leeds at set-pieces. So if we can defend better and contain them in our low block then counterattack, it will be good for us. “It is another tough game, so we have to learn quickly and move on.”
But Guehi is adamant they must not blame fixture congestion when things go wrong. “We aren’t giving ourselves an excuse,” he said. “We’ll recover and go again.”
