So far in this series, the adorable beavers have been stealing the show. But these marvellous animals are also benefiting other wildlife surrounding their habitat. Since they arrived, there has been a dramatic increase in species in their pond, which is now teeming with fish, frogs and toads – all of which make tasty food for hungry herons. The beavers aren’t the only family with young to care for, either – watch as Cropton Forest’s badgers (left) supervise their cubs as they emerge from the sett for the very first time, and get straight down to some rambunctious play-fighting.

SAVING LIVES IN LEEDS

9PM, BBC2 ★★★★

After daily operations were cut drastically during the pandemic – exacerbating waiting lists – the numbers of surgeries are steadily increasing again. Tonight, we follow some of those procedures at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, including those undertaken by endocrine consultants Sheila Fraser and Emma Collins – who are not sisters, despite first impressions. It can be difficult to watch children in hospital, but rest assured, the two youngsters featured tonight – including one-year-old Maya-mae, who has been waiting for liver surgery since she was born – are in very safe hands.

The final stop for this brilliant talent search is Birmingham New Street station, where judges Mika and Lang Lang settle in to watch in secret as performers play the keys for a toe-tapping Jerry Lee Lewis tune and a surprising cover version of a Harry Styles hit. Next week, you’ll see the finalists performing on stage at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
