NOTTINGHAM FOREST’S summer spending spree is set to continue with a club record bid to land Morgan Gibbs-white.
The versatile Wolves star is top of Forest boss Steve Cooper’s wish list.
They have already had two bids knocked back but are now set to go in with a final £30million offer to land their man.
Wolves have dug their heels in over a player that manager Bruno Lage has stressed is in his plans.
Forest’s last offer of £25m plus £10m in add-ons was dismissed out of hand because there was a feeling that the clauses for the additional payment were unrealistic.
Now Forest are ready to really test Wolves’ resolve with a straight cash offer.
The newly-promoted club certainly aren’t being shy in the transfer market having splashed out £100m so far – and there’s no sign they are finished yet.
Cooper is a big fan of Gibbs-white having taken him on loan during his time at Swansea after working with him at England Under-17 level.
The midfielder came of age last season during a highly successful loan spell at Sheffield United which saw him score 12 goals.
Everton have also shown an interest – but Forest have remained the front-runners throughout the summer.
Wolves look set to miss out on Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes (left).
The 23-year-old has been one of Lage’s top targets of the summer but now looks to be off-limits. Nunes is said to only be interested in a team which can offer Champions League football, with Liverpool his preferred destination.
Wolves may have more joy in their £7m pursuit of Bordeaux’s South Korean international Hwang Ui-jo.
The striker has been monitored by a number of clubs, including West Ham, but favours a move to the Molineux club.
