Noor Dubai launches Nigeria programme

DUBAI: Noor Dubai Foundation has announced the launch of a four-year eye visual treatment and prevention programme in Nigeria’s Katsina state.

As part of the programme, Noor Dubai Foundation aims to conduct more than 18 thousand eye surgeries, screen more than 70,000 people suspected to suffer from eye disease and 4000 who suffer from visual impairment and raise awareness about ocular impartment diseases and prevention among more than 1.5 million Nigerians.

Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, DHA, and Chairman of Noor Dubai Foundation, said that the foundation has so far benefited 25 million people around the world through its humanitari­an and medical preventive and treatment programmes since its inception in 2008, with the directives and support of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

He added that by expanding their reach to Nigeria, Noor Dubai Foundation is proving to be one of the world’s leading philanthro­pic foundation­s in the ield of visual impairment through providing treatment and prevention services that are based on state-ofthe-art technology and internatio­nal standards.

Wife of the Nigerian President Aisha Buhari visited the DHA’S headquarte­rs, where Al Qutami and Dr Manal Omran Taryam, CEO of Noor Dubai Foundation, discussed the foundation’s expansion in Nigeria especially in the state of Katsina. Al Qutami announced that the implementa­tion of the irst medical programme specialisi­ng in eye diseases in Nigeria is to begin next year.
