Nik shrugs off Zlat tag ahead of derby bow
Nikolaj Moller has been compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic but his main focus is giving Dundee United fans some Swede derby dreams.
The striker completed his move from St Gallen to Tannadice at the weekend on a two-year deal plus a further 12-month option.
Moller will be able to get a full week’s training behind him before he makes his bow on Sunday, across the road at Dens Park.
He said: “It’s the perfect set-up to come in and play a big game like this so I am really excited.”
Moller’s arrival is a boost to United with Max Watters and Zac Sapsford injured.
The 23- year- old was tipped early in his career to be the next big thing.
His height, build and the fact he came through at Malmo and then made a move to Arsenal led to early comparisons with Zlatan.
Moller said: “It is something I don’t look at too much. I try to focus on myself and be the best version of myself everyday.
“The comparisons (with Zlatan) are because I am tall and I came from the same team as him as well.
“I just want to improve and make the best career I can for myself.”
Mol ler knows Jim Goodwin has a track record of developing players and added: “The platform and club is just perfect for me. I can’t wait to start.”
United were given the weekend off as Aberdeen cancelled a Tannadice clash due to their Europa League play-off clashes.
Goodwin reckons the break has given new arrivals Luca Stephenson and Julius Eskesen time to find their feet for the derby.
He added: “They’re both fine fitness-wise. There’s no issue with either of them.”
