Streamer’s gaming part of something bigger

- Elizabeth Montgomery Society · Gilbert · Arizona · Twitter, Inc. · Elizabeth Montgomery

Jordan Woodruff is on a mission to help people in need by doing what he does best: playing video games.

Through his streaming channel “Cutwright” on Twitch, Woodruff has played for donations to raise money for St. Jude, the Trevor Project and United Way. So far, he’s given back $5,000 and aims to double that in 2021.

“I am just constantly trying to be part of opportunities to do good for other groups because something I knew when I started streaming was that streaming shouldn’t just be about me,” Woodruff said. “It should be about my impact and what I can leave behind.”

Based in Gilbert, the avid gamer says he didn’t have the confidence to feel out of his element until 2016, when he turned the camera on himself and started streaming for the world.

Two years later, with the help of the fundraising platform Tiltify, viewers could donate to Woodruff’s chosen nonprofits while watching him play Rainbow Six Siege, Destiny 2, Genshin Impact and more.

“I’m not trying to be a professional gamer who’s the best at something, hell no, I’m just trying to be funny and for people to enjoy my content, what I have to say, what I deliver and the things I participate in,” Woodruff said.

“I am absolutely a streamer, but I’m a gamer first. I want to be part of something bigger than myself and I’m extremely blessed by the amazing people who watch me and enjoy my content.”

My biggest wish for 2021 is ...

Woodruff: My biggest wish for 2021 is for coronavirus to be managed and maintained and for the world to approach a new normal that isn’t so alone. I think that collectively as a people we can get back to that normal by just following the coronavirus rules, that’s the only way we can kind of come back together. Our country hasn’t been more divided as a people. And I hope in the year 2021, I hope that we just kind of come together a little bit more.

the new year is understanding because we’re going to go through a real transitional time and we need to remember that we are all people and we need more people being there for each other, reaching out and hanging on to each other and supporting everyone when they need it.

One thing Arizona needs less of in the new year is ...

I just hope that in the new year our politicians can just stop adhering to the political party and start adhering to normality.

In 2021, I really want to see ...

In 2021, I really want to see a lot more representation of people of color and LGBT in Congress, in public spaces, in directory roles, in acting, in everything.

I hope the new year brings us more ...

I hope the new year brings us more gaming representation and for esports and gaming personalities to be recog

nized. I just hope that this new year continues to bring us this new rise in online people getting recognized and doing great things.
