EDU’S FUTURE AT CITY GROUND CAST IN DOUBT
THE future of global head of football Edu at Nottingham Forest has been thrown into doubt.
His appointment by the Reds in July was regarded as something of a coup at the time. However, with this season not panning out as hoped at the City Ground, the Brazilian is coming under a degree of scrutiny.
According to The Telegraph, Edu’s future at the club is “uncertain”. The presence of the 47-year-old is said to be a “contentious issue” and his role is “in question” ahead of the Reds’ reunion with former boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
A falling-out between Nuno and Edu was at the heart of the former’s dismissal as head coach in September. Nuno had led the club back into Europe for the first time in three decades with an excellent 2024-25 season but was axed only three games into the new term.
The Portuguese went on to take charge of West Ham United, who Forest come up against in a huge clash tonight (8pm). Both clubs are battling for Premier League survival, with the Reds currently only four points ahead of their 18th-placed rivals.
Ahead of the game in the capital, Nuno’s job at the London Stadium is reportedly under threat. Meanwhile, Forest make the trip on the back of four straight defeats.
It is certainly not the season the Reds had envisaged when they aimed to build on last term’s seventh-placed finish. Sean Dyche became the club’s third manager of the campaign in October when he replaced Ange Postecoglou, who lasted only 39 days as Nuno’s successor.
Edu’s appointment at Forest came after he left his job as sporting director at Arsenal. He was viewed as taking on a key role across Evangelos Marinakis’ umbrella of clubs, which includes Olympiacos and Rio Ave as well as the Reds.
