Stockholm Archipelago Trail
CONNECTING THE SWEDISH ISLES
The Stockholm Archipelago stretches into the Baltic Sea about 50 miles east of the Swedish capital. A new 168-mile trail, which opened in November, snakes through some of the more remote corners of the coastal area, connecting 20 islands (with help from ferries and private boat taxis) where birch and juniper forests give way to granite cliffs. For multiday excursions, hikers can stay anywhere from camp sites to spa hotels, B&BS, and unique lodgings like an old pilot lookout tower on Landsort.
