I want to give families a helping hand to make the choices that work for them, so I’ve increased our heat pump installation grant to £7,500, one of the most generous in Europe. However, I know not everyone will be ready so I’ve also chosen to give people more time – pushing back the boiler ban which was due in 2026 to 2035, saving families from having to spend up to £15,000 in just two years’ time.

?? ?? I have a heat pump, solar panels and a battery, and my total energy costs for the year are under £1,000. But the up-front costs discourage people from making the change. How will you persuade more people to switch to green energy, such as heat pumps, when it is so expensive?
