ScotRail announces additional services for cup final
TRAIN operator ScotRail is putting on extra services and carriages for football fans travelling to the Scottish Cup final.
Celtic and Dunfermline Athletic will meet at Barclays Hampden on Saturday, May 23, with kick-off at 3pm.
To help supporters get to the match, ScotRail will run additional trains and longer services between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida before and after the game.
Phil Campbell, customer operations director at ScotRail, said: “ScotRail is looking forward to helping football fans travel to and from the Men’s Scottish
Cup Final at Hampden this weekend.
“We’ll be doing all we can make the event as hassle-free as possible, which includes more seats and services to help supporters get to and from the stadium.”
Supporters are encouraged to arrive early to “soak up the match day experience,” and plan their journeys carefully.
Due to temporary station access restrictions, customers travelling to Mount Florida or Hampden are advised to use the Carriage Drive entrance from Hope Street, where a queuing system will be in place.
Extra staff will be deployed to assist passengers.
After the match, fans should return to Mount Florida station and join the queue on Bolton Drive, accessed from Cathkinview Terrace.
To speed up boarding and reduce queues, passengers are encouraged to buy return tickets to Mount Florida in advance using mTickets on the ScotRail app.
Mr Campbell said: “We’d encourage everyone to plan ahead, check their journey, and follow advice from our staff to help keep things moving.
“Queuing systems will be in place before and after the match, so please make sure you know where to go.
“Our staff will be on hand throughout the day to help.
“Buying your return tickets to Mount Florida in advance as mTickets on the ScotRail app will help your journey run smoothly.”
