Kanturk Basketball Club celebrated a fantastic season at our End of Season Awards Night on Sunday evening in Bobs on the Green. A huge crowd turned out to celebrate the many achievements and successes enjoyed throughout the year.

The evening began with recognition for our outstanding U11 Boys, who captured the prestigious Emmett Neville Tournament title against some of the top U11 teams from across Ireland.

We then honoured our brilliant U14 Girls, who completed a fantastic double by winning both the League and Top 4 titles, a superb achievement by a very talented group.

Our U16 Girls were next to be recognised following their Championship success, secured after a thrilling final victory over Skibbereen.

The achievements continued with our exceptional Senior Ladies, who completed an incredible treble, winning the League, Championship and Top 4 titles. An amazing accomplishment and a testament to their hard work and dedication throughout the season.

The night was also an opportunity to acknowledge the people who make our club what it is. We were delighted to present our Club Persons of the Year Awards to Esther O’Keeffe and Martina Enright. Both ladies epitomise everything that is great about our club, giving countless hours of their time to coach and mentor multiple teams throughout the year, including guiding our Senior Ladies to their historic treble.

Player’s Player Awards were also presented across all age groups, recognising the commitment, dedication and performances of our players throughout the season.

A huge thank you must go to all of our coaches and mentors who dedicate so much of their time to the club. We are also extremely grateful to our parents and families who travelled the length and breadth of the county supporting our teams all year long.

Thank you to all of our sponsors for their tremendous support. Your backing is vital to the continued growth and success of our club. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Scoil Mhuire, Kanturk and Coláiste Treasa for the use of their excellent facilities throughout the season. A special highlight of the evening saw Kanturk Basketball receive the Club of the Year Award, with Willie McCarthy and John Kelly from Cork Basketball on hand to present the award to our Chairperson and Secretary.

It was a proud moment and fitting recognition of the tremendous work being done throughout the club.

As we move into the summer months, we wish the very best of luck to our U14 representatives Darragh, JJ and Jack, who will represent Cork in the Euro Basketball Cup, and to Shane O’Sullivan, who will proudly wear the green jersey of Ireland in the upcoming Four Nations Tournament.

We hope to see many more of our members go on to represent Cork and Ireland in the years ahead. The future is incredibly bright for Kanturk Basketball Club, and we look forward with great excitement to the 2026/27 season.
