ZESCO United have completed the signing of Zambian international goalkeeper, Cyril Chibwe on a two-year deal subject to completing medicals.

The Ndola giants confirmed that the South Africa-born shot stopper has opted to shift base from the south to his parents’ country of origin as a free agent after the expiry of his contract at Baroka FC.

The 28-year-old goal keeper said he was happy to join the nine-time Zambian Super League champions.

“I have been in South Africa all my life and coming to Zambia wasn’t even a hustle for me because it’s something personal and special. Obviously, I had offers in South Africa, but I had to sit down with my manager and weigh the options in terms of where I was to benefit as a player.

Chibwe said he was looking forward to compete with Kenyan international goalkeeper, Ian Otieno and fellow Chipolopolo shot stopper Gregory Sanjase to help the Ndola side to succeed during the 2022/23 soccer season.

And Zesco United have appointed Malaiti Rangers Head Coach, Alfred Lupiya as second assistant coach.

Chief Executive Officer, Charles Kalala has disclosed that Lupiya replaces Emmanuel Siwale who served in the position for five-years.

Zesco have also appointed retired striker Winstone Kalengo as team physical trainer while former goalkeeper, Jacob Banda has been named new goalkeeper coach taking over from Emmanuel Msichili.

Meanwhile, Zambia national soccer team defender Frankie Musonda has joined Scottish Championship side Ayr United on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old defender who made his national team debut in 3-1 win over Congo and scored Zambia’s third goal of the match has joined the Honest Men after leaving Raith Rovers following the expiry of his contract.
