On World Humanitarian Day held every year on August 19 to pay tribute to aid workers who risk their lives in humanitarian service, Al Qutami highlighted the foundation’s humanitarian principles, which are derived from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

He added that since the foundation’s inception in 2008, the foundation has been working on implementing Sheikh Mohammed’s directives of giving the gift of sight back to those who suffer from preventable blindness and visual impairment all over the world.

Commenting on this year’s theme in women humanitarians, Al Qutami said that the Noor Dubai Foundation aims to empower women through the gift of sight, in line with the directives of the UAE Government and the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goal 5: “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls”.

The foundation tackles the global issue in healthcare in many ways. —
