AARON RAMSEY has quit Mexico with immediate effect and is back in the UK. The dramatic news comes after a traumatic few weeks for the Wales international, who has been left distraught by the disappearance of his family dog, Halo. The pet was left at a ranch near to where Ramsey was living after joining Mexican side Pumas, but has been missing for more than three weeks.

The 34-year-old and wife Colleen have been left devastated by the mysterious turn of events, publicly declaring they have been lied to after a hunt for the missing 10-year-old dog proved fruitless despite a substantial reward being offered.

A difficult personal situation unfolded in the wake of Ramsey suffering an injury in late September, which saw him withdrawn from Wales’ World Cup qualifier against Belgium.

He has been absent from Pumas’ training sessions ever since, sparking rumours he could be on the brink of leaving Mexico following a summer move that surprised many.

Multiple reports now state Ramsey has mutually terminated his contract and is a free agent once again.

He left Wales for Mexico after a brief stint as Cardiff City interim manager, while he was still a player at the club. But, less than six months later, the illfated move is at an end, with Ramsey’s future plans uncertain.

The midfielder had offered $20,000 (£15,000) to anyone able to help find his beloved beagle, who was last seen in San Miguel de Allende, in Mexico’s Guanajuato region.

The 34-year-old hasn’t played for his new club since a 4-1 defeat to America at the end of September, having initially picked up a hamstring issue. That injury kept him out of the most recent international camp with Wales, but the search for his dog has also meant he’s stayed away from his club too.

Speculation over what happened to

Halo, whom Ramsey has owned for more than 10 years, has swirled in the past couple of weeks, with wife Colleen recently suggesting the dog may have been kidnapped having been dropped off at a local shelter.

Taking to social media last week, Ramsey wrote: “We’ve remained quiet trying to understand how you can leave your dog on a ranch and never see her again. Without any explanation? The cameras weren’t recording, a tracked couldn’t find her, no sightings, no body, and a pile of lies.”

Quizzed on Ramsey’s situation after Sunday’s draw with Leon, boss Efrain Juarez said: “We’re monitoring it. I said it on Wednesday – let’s see what happens in the coming days. He’s dealing with his situation, which we all know about, involving his dog.

“Also, there was an issue before he left during the Fifa break. So, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
