Couple win award for their pet-friendly holiday homes
A Lochearnhead couple who run a holiday business there have won a top award for the way they accommodate vacationing pets.
Fraser and Kim Proven, of Little Briar Cottage, were last week named `best pet holiday home in Europe at the Holiday Home in Europe awards, announced in Barcelona.
The couple have been offering pet-friendly selfcatering on the banks of Loch Earn since 2008 in the grounds of their thatched cottage.
Their warm welcoming reputation has been recognised over the years earning them five-star reviews on Google and Facebook, 10-out-of-10 customer service certificate from Hotels Combined and their fifth successive certificate of excellence from TripAdvisor, with the maximum `five bubble’rating putting them in the top three per cent of the world for customer excellence.
Kim Proven said,“Our service and facilities are of course enhanced and supported by local pet friendly restaurants, off road walks, area events and a dog-friendly golf course.
“As chair of the Loch Earn Tourism Information group I recognise the importance of tourism businesses working together to improve visitor experiences.”
Mr Proven, who looks after Briar Cottages’three-acre grounds, said pets and guests enjoy“fetch-and-play”space and access to swimming in Loch Earn from their garden.
“To win a European award for our efforts is an honour indeed and makes us very proud to do what we do as a way of life,”she added.
The awards highlight quality and diversity in the short-term holiday home rental market and are given to individual holiday homes providing a unique and high-quality holiday experience.
A jury selects a group of finalists amongst the nominated houses in each category and the winners are voted on by representatives from each national trade association member of the European Holiday Home Association.
