Former LFO standout Jazzmyn Elston picks up awards in Missouri

State Fair (Mo.) Community College Lady Roadrunners earned postseason honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 16 and the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC), including former LFO standout Jazzmyn Elston.

Elston, a freshman, was named to the NJCAA All-Region 16 second team and the MCCAC all-conference second team. She started in 15 of the 29 games she played in, averaging 12.6 points per game, which placed her third on the team. She shot 45.8 percent from the field and 37.1 from the three-point line.

State Fair finished the season 14-17 after a loss in the Region 16 tournament semifinal.

GNTC open gym workouts

Georgia Northwestern will be holding open gym workouts for current students and prospective freshmen from March through July.

Students must be enrolled in 12 credit hours, be in good standing with the school and have a current, updated physical in order to participate.

Women’s volleyball open gym workouts will be held April 10 and 24, May 8, 15 and 22, June 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28, and July 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26 and 31 from 3-4:30 p.m.

Open gym workouts for the Lady Bobcats’ basketball team will held on April 12 from 3-4:30 p.m. Workouts for the Bobcats’ men’s team will be held April 26 from 3-4:30 p.m. and workouts for both basketball programs will held on May 10 and 24 from 4-6 p.m. and June 14, 21 and 28 and July 12, 19 and 26 from 5:30-7 p.m.

All open gym sessions will be at the Rossville Athletic Center (301 Williams Street, Rossville, Ga.)

LaFayette Middle team camp

The second annual LaFayette Middle School basketball team camp will be held June 15 and 16 at LaFayette Middle School.

It will be a doubleelimination tournament format with trophies going to the top two teams.

The fee is $100 before March 31 and $125 after March 31. All money is due by April 30.

Disc golf tournament

The Disco de Mayo Disc Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 5 at Jack Mattox Park in Ringgold from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
