Housing for all ages

David Heenan is 24 years old, and works full time for North Ayrshire Council. He applied for a Trust house in 2013 when he was 19. David lived with mum and dad and older brother in the family home in Lamlash. The two brothers shared a bedroom.

David says, “Finding accommodation is hard on Arran, and very expensive, but Trust houses are affordable. I do not earn enough to rent from a private landlord or buy my own house. I would still be living at home if I had not applied to Trust.”

General Needs Housing offers affordable housing for families and individuals. This type of housing is available in the villages of Brodick, Lamlash, Whiting Bay, Kilmory, Shiskine, Pirnmill and Corrie.

Benefits of General Needs housing:

You can stay with Trust for as long as you like, there’s no time limit on your tenancy. Rental costs can be inexpensive in comparison to private rents. Costs start at £324 per month for a double bedroom to £415 for three bed properties. Modern, warm and well insulated flats.

Retirement made easy

Trust also provides Amenity Housing, ideal for older people, with an emergency pull cord system for added peace of mind and safety.

This type of housing is available in the villages of Brodick, Whiting Bay, Blackwaterfoot, Lochranza and Corrie.

Sheltered Housing is for those who are able to live independently, but

want to ensure that all their needs are met. Shared areas offer companionship and your own fully self-contained flat means privacy when you want it. There are many advantages to living in Sheltered Housing with Trust:

1. Staff meet regularly with tenants to make sure all support needs are being met.

2. Onsite staff are available Monday to Friday.

3. Laundry and guest rooms (where family and friends can stay) are available onsite.

4. Controlled entry system to the main door offers added security.

5. All the flats are on ground floor level.

6. All flats have their own living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom.

7. Modern, warm and well insulated flats, with heating charged at a fixed monthly rate.

Rents are fully covered by Housing Benefit for those with an entitlement to this. Trust has a dedicated benefits advice service to help and support those looking to take up a sheltered tenancy.

Trust’s two Sheltered Housing developments are in Brodick and Lamlash.
